Marketplace Fee and Profit Calculator
Estimate Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Walmart, Mercari, TikTok Shop or Shopify fees and your real net profit
Referral fee varies by category (roughly 8–45%; 15% for most), on the item price plus shipping, usually with a $0.30 minimum. Payment processing is included. Amazon FBA sellers add a fulfilment fee below; individual-plan sellers also pay $0.99 per item (not included here). Indicative starting points; edit any number to match your category and current rates.
Rates checked November 2026 (sell.amazon.com/pricing, read 1 Nov 2026). Marketplaces change their fees often.

How this was calculated
1. Marketplace fee
Fee base x fee %
Using Fee base = $29.99; Fee % = 15%
Result: $4.50
2. Payment processing
(Price + shipping charged) x processing % + processing fixed
Using Price + shipping = $29.99; Processing % = 0%; Processing fixed = $0.00
Result: $0.00
3. Profit if the order is kept
Price + shipping charged - cost - marketplace fee - processing - per-order fixed fees - Offsite Ads fee - your shipping - fulfilment - ad cost
Using Price = $29.99; Marketplace fee = $4.50; Processing = $0.00; Per-order fixed fees = $0.00
Result: $10.99
4. Result if the order is returned
-(outbound shipping + return postage + processing + fixed fees + fulfilment + ad cost + cost of unsellable items)
Using Return postage = $4.50; Processing = $0.00
Result: −$9.00
5. Expected profit per order
Profit if kept x (1 - return rate) + result if returned x return rate
Using Profit if kept = $10.99; Result if returned = −$9.00; Return rate = 5%
Result: $9.99
6. Margin on revenue kept
Expected profit / ((price + shipping charged) x (1 - return rate))
Using Expected profit = $9.99; Revenue kept = $28.49
Result: 35.1%

About Marketplace Fee Calculator
Estimates your net profit per order after marketplace fees (Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Walmart, Mercari, TikTok Shop, Shopify or your own), including separate payment-processing, per-order and fulfilment fees, fees charged on shipping, Etsy Offsite Ads, ROI, the break-even price and what returns really cost you. Compare 2 to 4 marketplaces side by side.
Pick a marketplace, check the fee numbers against your own account (they are starting points), enter your price, cost and shipping, and read the profit if the order is kept, the loss if it is returned, and the expected profit across your return rate. Choose Compare marketplaces to see each fee line per marketplace, and Copy link to share your inputs (they live in the link only; nothing is saved).
Returns are modelled like this: the buyer is refunded and you keep the item (unless you mark some returns as unsellable), but you still lose the outbound and return postage, fixed and payment-processing fees, fulfilment and ad cost. The marketplace's percentage fee is assumed to be refunded. Your marketplace's real rules may differ.

- Are marketplace fees the same for every product category?
- No — check your marketplace's current published fee schedule for your specific product category before relying on the default starting percentage. Fees frequently vary by category, not just by platform.
- How do I evaluate marketplace fees?
- Put the same price, cost and shipping into each marketplace and compare what is left. Use Compare marketplaces to see 2 to 4 of them side by side, each fee on its own line, with the payout, profit, margin, ROI and the break-even price. Then check the rates against your own account, because fees depend on category and seller plan.
- What are Etsy's fees in 2026?
- For a US seller the tool uses a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and 3% + $0.25 payment processing on the order total. Offsite Ads add 15% (12% once a shop has $10,000 or more in sales over 365 days) only on orders that came from an ad click, capped at $100 per order. These were read from Etsy's own pages on 1 November 2026; Etsy can change them.
- What does eBay take per sale?
- For most categories about 13.6% of the item price plus shipping and sales tax (2.35% on the part above $7,500), plus $0.40 per order, or $0.30 on orders of $10 or less. The tool's eBay figures were read from ebay.com on 30 October 2026. Some categories are lower or higher, so edit the percentage for yours.
- What price do I need for a 30% margin?
- Enter your cost, shipping and fees, then set the target margin to 30 in the box under the results. The tool solves for the selling price that gives that margin on the revenue you keep after returns, and the Use this price button copies it into the price box.
- How is ROI worked out here?
- ROI is the profit if the order is kept divided by what you put in per order: your cost, your own shipping and any ad cost (including an Etsy Offsite Ads fee). A $12 item that costs $5 to ship and leaves $26 of profit has an ROI of about 153%.
- Can I share my numbers with someone?
- Yes. Copy link to these inputs makes a web address that holds your price, cost, shipping, return rate and the marketplaces you compare. Whoever opens it sees the same screen. The inputs live in the address only; nothing is saved on a server.
