About PDF Bookmarks Editor
Shows the bookmarks (outline) of a PDF as a tree you can edit: rename, delete, reorder, indent and outdent them, and add new ones that point at a page number. A preview of the target page helps you check each one. The edited outline is written into a copy of the PDF.
Drop a PDF. Edit the titles and page numbers in the list, use the arrows and indent buttons to arrange them, and click the eye button to see the page a bookmark points at. To add a bookmark, type a title and page number and click Add. Then download the PDF.
Bookmarks are saved so each one opens its page fitted to the window; a zoom or scroll position stored in the original bookmark is not kept. Your original file is never changed. Clearing the list and downloading removes all bookmarks.
- Does it change my original file?
- No. It writes a new copy with the edited outline, and your original stays as it was.
- Can it add bookmarks automatically from headings?
- No. You add each bookmark yourself by typing a title and a page number. The page preview helps you check the page.
- Why does a bookmark show no page?
- Some bookmarks point at a named destination instead of a page, which this tool cannot resolve. Type a page number to give it a target, or leave it as a heading that does not jump anywhere.
- Will my original zoom settings in bookmarks be kept?
- No. Every bookmark is saved to open its page fitted to the window. Titles, order, nesting and target pages are kept.
- Can I remove all bookmarks?
- Yes. Click Remove all and download. The new PDF has no outline.
How to use PDF Bookmarks Editor
Drop a PDF. Its existing bookmarks appear as a list you can edit: change a title or page number, move a bookmark up or down, indent it under the one above or outdent it, or delete it. Click the eye button to see the page it points at. Add a new bookmark with a title and page number, then download the PDF.
When to use it
Use it to fix messy bookmarks in a report or book, to give a long scanned or exported PDF a navigable outline, or to remove an outline you do not want.
When not to use it
Do not use it to create bookmarks automatically from headings, because it does not read the text. It also does not edit page content, links or form fields.
Tips for best results
Use the page preview while typing a page number to confirm it is the right one. The original file is never changed, and Undo all changes restores the bookmarks the file came with.
Limitations
Bookmarks are written so each opens its page fitted to the window; a zoom or scroll position stored in the original is not kept. A bookmark whose original target was a named destination shows no page until you enter one. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser. Your PDF is read and rewritten on your device and is never uploaded.
