About Image Splitter
Cuts one picture into a grid of equal tiles, for Instagram grid posts, panoramas, posters printed on several sheets or puzzle pieces. Tiles cover the whole picture with no gaps and none overlap.
Drop a picture, choose the number of rows and columns (or a preset) and check the lines on the preview. Pick PNG or JPEG and click Split. All tiles download together as one ZIP.
For an Instagram profile grid, choose 3 columns and tick the Instagram order box: post the tiles in numbered order (post01 first) and the grid assembles correctly, because the newest post appears top-left. If the size does not divide evenly, tiles differ by at most one pixel.
- How does the Instagram order option work?
- Instagram shows the newest post top-left. With the option ticked, files are named post01, post02 and so on, from the bottom-right tile to the top-left. Post them in that order and the grid builds up correctly.
- Will the tiles fit together exactly?
- Yes. Together the tiles cover the whole picture with no gaps or overlaps. If the size does not divide evenly, some tiles are one pixel larger than others.
- Can I choose PNG or JPEG?
- Yes. PNG keeps full quality and transparency; JPEG makes smaller files and fills transparent areas with white. Choose PNG when you will process the tiles further.
- Is there a limit on rows and columns?
- Up to 20 rows and 20 columns, and never more tiles than pixels across the picture. Very large pictures with many tiles take longer and need more memory.
- Are my pictures uploaded?
- No. The picture is cut and zipped in your browser and never leaves your device.
How to use Image Splitter
Drop a picture and choose how many columns and rows you want, using the presets or the number boxes (up to 20 each). Dashed lines on the preview show where the cuts fall. Pick PNG or JPEG, tick Instagram order if you plan to post the pieces, then click Split and download ZIP.
When to use it
Use it for an Instagram profile grid or carousel, a panorama shown across several slides, a poster printed on several sheets and taped together, a puzzle or a sprite sheet of equal pieces.
When not to use it
It cuts into equal parts only and cannot make uneven or free-form crops. For one rectangle use Resize & Crop. It does not add margins, gaps or overlaps for printing, and it does not resize tiles to a platform's required size.
Tips for best results
For a three-column Instagram grid choose 3 columns, then 1 to 4 rows depending on how tall the grid should be, and tick Instagram order. Post the files in numbered order (post01 first): the newest post sits top-left, so the grid then assembles correctly. For sharp results start from a large picture.
Limitations
Tiles cover every pixel once with no gap or overlap; when the size does not divide evenly, tiles differ by at most one pixel. Very large pictures use a lot of memory because the whole image is decoded first. JPEG output has no transparency, so see-through areas become white. The preview is a reduced copy; the tiles are cut from the full-size picture.
Privacy
The picture is decoded and cut in your browser, and the tiles are zipped there too. Nothing is uploaded.
