What is this tool?
Converts an image between JPG, PNG, and WebP, since different platforms and use cases expect different formats -- a website that requires WebP for performance, a print shop that only accepts JPG, or a design tool that needs PNG's transparency support are all common reasons the same image needs to exist in more than one format.
How to use it
Upload your image, choose the format you want to convert to, and download the converted file. Converting a transparent PNG or WebP image to JPEG shows a background color picker first, since JPEG has no transparency support -- the transparent areas get filled with whatever color you pick (white by default) rather than silently turning black.
Use PNG when you need transparency or sharp edges (like a logo or an icon), JPG for photos where file size matters more than a transparent background, and WebP when the destination supports it and file size is the priority -- it typically produces a smaller file than JPG at a similar visual quality, though not every platform accepts it yet. Converting a transparent image to JPEG permanently fills the transparent areas with a solid color -- there's no way to get the transparency back from the JPEG afterward, so keep the original if you might need it again.
