About Exhibit Stamper
Stamps an exhibit label such as "Exhibit A" on the first page, or every page, of each PDF in a set, and gives you an index (CSV) of which document is which exhibit, with a blank description column to fill in. Label with letters or numbers, add your own text before and after, and choose where the stamp goes.
Put the files in exhibit order before you start, because the labels follow the list. Check the preview to be sure the stamp does not cover anything important, and use a different corner if it does. Court and agency rules on exhibits differ, so check the format your forum asks for.
- Can I stamp every page or only the first?
- Either. Choose First page only for a label on the front of each exhibit, or Every page, with an option to add page 2 of 5 after the label.
- What is the index?
- A CSV listing each exhibit label, the original file name, the stamped file name and the page count, with an empty Description column you can fill in.
- How is this different from Bates Numbering?
- Bates Numbering gives every page its own running number. The Exhibit Stamper labels each document as an exhibit. Many productions use both.
- Are my documents uploaded?
- No. The stamping happens in your browser.
How to use Exhibit Stamper
Drop the PDFs in the order they should be labelled. Choose letters (A, B, C) or numbers (1, 2, 3), the first label, and any text before and after, for example Exhibit or Pl. Ex. Choose whether to stamp the first page or every page, where the stamp goes and how big it is.
The index preview shows which document gets which label. Press Stamp, look at the preview, then download the stamped PDF, or a ZIP of all stamped files with an index CSV that has an empty Description column to fill in.
When to use it
Use it when you assemble exhibits for a filing, a hearing, a mediation, an insurance claim or an application and need each document labelled and listed.
When not to use it
It labels existing PDFs. It does not make cover sheets, merge the files or number every page across the set; use Bates Numbering for running page numbers. Rules for exhibit format differ between courts and agencies, so check what yours requires.
Tips for best results
Fill in the Description column of the index before you attach it to a filing. Label with letters for one party and numbers for the other if your forum expects that, by running the tool twice.
Limitations
The stamp is drawn on top of the page, so a white box behind it is on by default; turn it off if you want the page left as is, and move the stamp if it covers content. Locked PDFs have to be unlocked first. The stamp is not a signature and does not make a document authentic.
Privacy
The PDFs are stamped in your browser and are not uploaded. Nothing is kept after you close the page.
