About Receipt to Expense Sheet
Turns photos or pasted text of receipts into expense rows: vendor, date, total and tax are picked out for you to check. Add the rows to your project's expenses, or download them as a CSV. Receipts are read on your device and nothing is uploaded.
Drop receipt photos (or take one with your phone), press Read receipts, then fix any field that was read wrongly. If the text of a receipt is already on screen, paste it instead. Add the rows to your project or download the CSV.
Photograph receipts flat, in good light, with the whole slip in view. Always check the total and date: reading from a photo is never perfect.
- Are my receipts uploaded?
- No. The photos are read in your browser. The first time, the reading engine downloads its language data, so you need an internet connection once, but your images never leave your device.
- How accurate is the reading?
- Good on flat, well-lit, printed receipts and weaker on crumpled, faded or handwritten ones. Every row is shown for you to check, and rows with no clear total or date are marked.
- Can I paste text instead of using a photo?
- Yes. Open the paste box, paste the text of an e-receipt or email, and it becomes a row the same way.
- What happens to the tax?
- If a tax line was found it is kept, and the total is treated as tax included, so your profit and budget tools count what you actually paid. Edit or clear the tax box if it was read wrongly.
- Where do the rows go?
- Add them to your project and they appear in the Expense Tracker, Event Budget Planner and Event Profit Ledger, or download a CSV. The project is erased when you close the tab unless you save the project file.
How to use Receipt to Expense Sheet
Drop receipt photos or take them with your phone camera and press Read receipts. Check the date, vendor, total and tax in each row and fix anything wrong. Add the rows to your project's expenses, or download a CSV.
When to use it
Use it after an event, a trip or a shopping run when you have a pile of receipts to turn into a list for your budget, a client or an expense claim.
When not to use it
It is not a bookkeeping system and does not keep the receipt images. Keep the originals if you need them for tax or reimbursement.
Tips for best results
Photograph each receipt flat with the whole slip in view, and set a category before reading so every row starts with it.
Limitations
Reading is best on printed receipts in English. It does not convert currencies, and line items are not split out. The first read needs an internet connection to fetch language data.
Privacy
Receipts are read in your browser and not uploaded. Nothing is kept, and the project is erased when you close the page unless you save the project file.
