About Photo Collage Maker
Combines 2 to 9 photos into a single collage image, using a choice of grid layouts, for sharing multiple photos as one image instead of several separate ones — useful for a social media post that only accepts one image, a quick visual summary of an event, or just avoiding sending a dozen separate attachments when a few would do.
Upload your photos, choose a layout (side-by-side, a grid, and so on), adjust the spacing between photos if you like, and tick Fit (no crop) to keep each whole photo visible (the spare space in a cell shows the background colour) instead of the default fill, which crops photos to cover their cell, and generate and download the finished collage.
Photos with roughly similar aspect ratios (all portrait, or all landscape) tend to look more balanced in a grid layout than mixing very different shapes — a mix of tall and wide photos in the same grid can leave some cells looking cropped or oddly spaced, so sorting or cropping photos to a closer match beforehand usually gives a cleaner result.

- Do all my photos need to be the same shape to make a good collage?
- Not required, but photos with roughly similar aspect ratios (all portrait, or all landscape) tend to look more balanced in a grid layout than mixing very different shapes — a mix can leave some cells looking cropped or oddly spaced.
- How many photos can I combine into one collage?
- Between 2 and 9 photos, using a choice of grid layouts depending on how many you're combining.
- How many photos can one collage hold?
- Up to nine. If you add more, the extras are left out and a warning says how many. A given layout may use fewer: the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 layouts hold exactly that many photos, and any surplus photos are marked as not used.
- How large will the finished collage be?
- It depends on the layout, the Size per photo and the Spacing. For example, the 4 (grid) layout at 500 px with spacing 8 gives 2 x 500 plus 3 x 8, so 1024 by 1024 pixels. The 1200 px setting makes much larger images.
- What happens when my photos have different shapes?
- Each photo is enlarged until it covers its cell, centred, and whatever overflows is cropped away. Nothing is stretched. If an important part is being cut, reorder the photos so that picture goes into a better-suited cell, or crop it beforehand.
- Can I rearrange the photos after uploading?
- Yes. Each file in the list has an up arrow, a down arrow and a remove button, and the cells fill in that order. Changing anything clears the old preview, so press Generate Collage again to see the new arrangement.
- Can I use iPhone HEIC photos?
- Yes. HEIC, HEIF, TIFF and AVIF files are handled alongside JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP, though AVIF depends on your browser. If a file cannot be read, a message names it and no collage is made.
How to use Photo Collage Maker
Drop two to nine photos on the page. The tool picks a layout that uses all of them, and you can change it with the layout buttons: 2 (side by side), 2 (stacked), 3 (row), 3 (1 big + 2), 4 (grid), 5 (2 + 3), 6 (grid) or 9 (grid). Photos fill the cells in list order, so use the up and down arrows beside each name to reorder, or the cross to remove one.
Set Size per photo to 500, 800 or 1200 px, Format to PNG or JPG (smaller), drag the Spacing slider from 0 to 30, and choose a Background colour. Press Generate Collage, check the preview, then press Download Collage.
When to use it
A collage helps when a post or message accepts only one image: holiday highlights, a before-and-after pair, a product shown from several sides, a family photo set for a card, or a classroom project summary. The 3 (1 big + 2) and 5 (2 + 3) layouts give one picture more prominence than the rest.
When not to use it
The layouts are fixed grids, so this is the wrong tool for irregular scrapbook pages, overlapping pictures, rotated frames, stickers or captions. It also cannot hold more than nine photos. If you want to stitch two photos into one seamless panorama, or need text over the pictures, use an editor that supports layers.
Tips for best results
Pictures with similar shapes sit best, because every photo is scaled to cover its cell and the centre is kept while overflow is trimmed. Reorder before generating if a face would be cropped badly. With seven or eight photos the tool selects the 9 layout, which leaves empty cells filled by the background colour, so choose a colour that suits that. Spacing also sets the outer margin.
Limitations
A collage holds at most nine photos; extras are not added, and the page warns you. A layout shows only as many photos as it has cells, and unused ones are marked. Each cell is square or a multiple of it, so tall or wide photos are cropped rather than letterboxed. Output width and height follow from the layout, the per-photo size and the spacing.
Privacy
Each photo is decoded and drawn onto a canvas inside your browser, and the finished collage is built there as well, so the pictures are never uploaded. iPhone HEIC and TIFF files are opened by code that ships with the page. The collage exists only in memory until you download it. A plain usage tally for the tool may be recorded, never the photos.
