About India Income Tax Calculator
Calculates income tax under India's tax system, comparing the old and new tax regimes side by side so you can see which works out better. It applies the Section 87A rebate with marginal relief, surcharge on high incomes (with marginal relief) and 4% cess.
Enter your annual salary, any other income and (for the old regime) your deductions. Choose your age group, which matters for the old regime. The calculator shows tax, rebate, surcharge, cess, effective rate and monthly tax for both regimes, with the slab-by-slab working underneath.
The right regime depends heavily on how many deductions and exemptions you actually claim. If you have significant deductions (a home loan, 80C investments, HRA), the old regime often works out better despite its higher headline rates. Just above ₹12 lakh of taxable income, marginal relief keeps the new-regime tax small, so a small raise does not cause a big jump.
