About Vendor Quote Comparison
Puts the quotes you have collected side by side. Quotes for the same item are grouped, ranked from cheapest, and marked when they have expired. Accept one and the others for that item are closed, then add the accepted price to your budget.
Add each quote with the vendor, what it is for, the amount and how long it is valid. Quotes for the same item line up automatically. Press Accept on the one you choose, then Add to budget. Copy the comparison or download it as a CSV.
Use the same wording for the item on every quote ('Catering', not 'Catering for 100' on one and 'Food' on another) so they group. Quotes in different currencies are shown but not ranked.
- How are quotes grouped?
- By the item name, ignoring capital letters and extra spaces. Use the same wording on each quote so they line up.
- What about expired quotes?
- They are shown but left out of the ranking, so an old low price does not mislead you.
- Can I compare quotes in different currencies?
- They are shown together but not ranked, because the tool does not guess exchange rates.
- What happens when I accept a quote?
- Other open quotes for the same item are marked rejected. You can then add the accepted amount to your budget.
- Is anything stored?
- Quotes stay in this browser tab and are erased when you close it. Save the project file to keep them.
How to use Vendor Quote Comparison
Add each quote with vendor, item, amount and expiry. Accept one, add it to the budget, and copy or download the comparison.
When to use it
Use it whenever you collect more than one price for the same thing: venue, catering, audio-visual, printing, transport.
When not to use it
It compares price only. Check scope, terms and reviews before choosing.
Tips for best results
Ask vendors to quote the same scope and record the expiry date.
Limitations
No currency conversion. Only the amounts you enter are compared.
