About Site Launch Kit
Makes the basic technical files a new website needs, from a few details: robots.txt, sitemap.xml, head tags for sharing and search, structured data, a web manifest and a security.txt contact file, all in one ZIP with a note on where each goes.
Fill in the site name and address, add your pages one per line, and download the kit. Upload the files to your site as the README says, then submit the sitemap in Google Search Console.
Use the full address you want people to see, with https. If your site works with and without www, pick one and use it everywhere.
- Which files does the kit contain?
- robots.txt, sitemap.xml, head-tags.html, structured-data.html, site.webmanifest, a README, and .well-known/security.txt when you enter an email.
- Will this make my site rank higher?
- No. These files help search engines find and understand your pages, but they do not guarantee ranking or indexing.
- Where do I upload the files?
- The README lists each one. robots.txt and sitemap.xml go in the site root. The head tags go inside the head of your pages.
- What if my website builder already makes these?
- Then check what it produces before replacing anything. Many builders create robots.txt and sitemap.xml for you.
- Is my information stored?
- No. The kit is made in your browser. Your entries stay in the tab and are erased when you close it.
How to use Site Launch Kit
Fill in the site name and address, a short description and your pages, then download the ZIP. It holds robots.txt, sitemap.xml, head tags for search and sharing, structured data, a web manifest and, if you give an email, a security.txt file, with a README saying where each one goes.
When to use it
Use it when you are launching a new site and want the standard technical files in one go, or when a small site is missing a sitemap, robots file or share tags.
When not to use it
It does not build or host your website, make icons or share images, submit your sitemap to search engines or promise any ranking. It cannot see your live site, so it cannot check that the files are in the right place.
Tips for best results
After uploading, open yoursite.com/robots.txt and yoursite.com/sitemap.xml in a browser to check them, then add the sitemap in Google Search Console. Use the exact address visitors use, with https.
Limitations
The sitemap lists only the pages you type. The files follow common standards but you should check them against your own host's rules; for example, some site builders create robots.txt and sitemap.xml themselves. Icons named in the manifest are not created. The security.txt expiry is set one year from the day you download it and needs renewing.
Privacy
Everything is worked out in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored by us, and your entries are erased when you close the tab; use Back up to keep a copy on your own device.
