JSON and CSV Converter
Turn JSON into a CSV table for Excel or Sheets, or CSV back into JSON, with nested fields handled
About JSON and CSV Converter
Convert JSON to a CSV table you can open in Excel or Google Sheets, or turn a CSV back into JSON. Everything happens in your browser.
Choose a direction, paste your data or open a file, and the result appears below. Nested JSON objects become dotted columns such as address.city. For CSV to JSON, tick the options to turn numbers into real numbers and to rebuild nesting from dotted headers.
Leading zeros in IDs and phone numbers are kept as text so 007 does not become 7. CSV cells that start with = + - or @ get a leading apostrophe so spreadsheets do not run them as formulas.
- How are nested JSON objects handled?
- They are flattened into dotted columns, so {"address":{"city":"Austin"}} becomes a column called address.city. Going back from CSV to JSON, you can rebuild that nesting.
- What JSON shapes work?
- A list of objects works best. An object that contains one list of records, such as an API response with an items list, is also detected. A single object becomes one row.
- What happens to lists inside a record?
- A list of simple values is joined with semicolons in one cell. A list of objects is kept as JSON text in the cell.
- Will leading zeros in IDs survive?
- Yes. When converting CSV to JSON, only plain numbers become numbers. Values like 007 or long digit strings stay as text.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
How to use JSON and CSV Converter
Choose JSON to CSV or CSV to JSON, paste your data or open a file, check the row and column count, then copy the result or download it.
When to use it
Use it to open API or export data in a spreadsheet, or to turn a spreadsheet export into JSON for a developer or an app.
When not to use it
For Excel files (.xlsx) use the Excel / CSV Converter. To tidy or validate JSON without changing its shape, use the JSON Formatter.
Tips for best results
Keep dotted headers like address.city if you plan to convert back to JSON with nesting rebuilt.
Limitations
Very large files may be slow in the browser. Lists of objects inside a record are stored as JSON text in one cell rather than expanded into extra rows.
Privacy
Nothing is uploaded. Conversion happens in your browser.
