About Business Card Generator
Designs a printable business card with your name, title, contact details, and one layout in a choice of six color themes, or your own uploaded photo as the background.
Enter your details, pick a design style or upload your own background photo, and download the finished card as a print-ready file. The PDF has 0.125 in of bleed on every edge, with the background carried through it.
Check your local print shop's exact bleed and margin requirements before ordering physical cards — a design that looks fine on screen can end up with text too close to the trim edge once actually printed. If using a photo background, a darker overlay is applied automatically to keep text readable — a photo with less busy detail in the lower-left area (where your name and title sit) will look cleanest.
Watch: Business Card Generator in Action
- Can I preview how the card will actually look printed?
- Pair this with the Mockup Generator tool to see the finished card in a realistic device or print mockup before ordering, since a flat design file can look different from how it'll actually appear once printed and held.
- What size is the card and how much bleed does the PDF have?
- The finished card is 3.5 by 2 inches. Each PDF page is 3.75 by 2.25 inches, because 0.125 inch of bleed is added on every edge. The background and the coloured strip along the bottom are extended into that bleed, while text stays inside the trim area.
- Can I place my logo on the card?
- Not as a separate element. The only image option is a background photo that covers the whole card and is darkened by an overlay. A logo placed inside that photo would be cropped to fit and dimmed along with everything else.
- What is in the print-ready PDF?
- Two pages, front first and back second, each a 300-pixels-per-inch picture of the card plus bleed. Before ordering, check your print shop's own requirements for bleed, safe margin and colour mode, as the file is RGB and not a press-prepared document.
- Why does some of my text look smaller than I expected?
- Each line is fitted to the width inside a 0.2 inch margin. The name starts large and steps down toward a minimum size if it is long, and the same happens to the title, company and contact lines. Shorten the text if you want it larger.
- Can the back have a different colour or photo?
- No. Both sides share the same colour circle or photo and the same text colour. The back differs only in its content, which is the company name in large type with the optional tagline beneath it.
How to use Business Card Generator
The preview shows a card of 3.5 by 2 inches. Fill in Name, Title, Company, Phone, Email and Website, and add a Back-of-card tagline if you want one. The Front and Back buttons above the preview switch sides; the back shows the company name (or your name when Company is empty) centred, with the tagline under it.
Pick one of six colour circles, named Indigo, Charcoal, Emerald, Rose, Cream and White, or press 'Upload Photo Background' to use your own picture, which receives a dark overlay so the text stays readable. 'Text Color' overrides the text colour, and 'Reset to theme default' undoes that.
Save the visible side with the PNG button, or choose 'Print-ready PDF (front + back, bleed)' for a two-page file.
When to use it
Reach for it when you need a clean, text-only card quickly: a self-employed person just starting out, a market stall, a volunteer role, an event contact card or a stand-in card for a conference. It is also useful for producing a proof to show a printer before you commit to a more elaborate design.
When not to use it
It has one fixed layout with left-aligned text on the front, no logo placement, no QR code and no second language line. If your brand needs a logo, particular typography or a die-cut shape, a design application is the better route. It is also wrong for printers that insist on CMYK files, since the output here is RGB.
Tips for best results
Keep the busiest part of a photo away from the lower left, where name and title are drawn, and away from the contact lines near the bottom. Keep each line short: text shrinks to fit and, after shrinking as far as it can, is trimmed with an ellipsis. The PNG has no bleed at all, so use the PDF whenever the card is going to a printer.
Limitations
The PNG is 1050 by 600 pixels, which is 300 pixels per inch at the US standard size of 3.5 by 2 inches, and the PDF embeds that same kind of picture rather than live text. Colours are RGB and are not converted to CMYK. Cards in the European 85 by 55 mm size need trimming or another tool. Fonts come from your device, so the look can vary slightly.
Privacy
The card is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PDF is assembled there too. Your name, phone, email, website and any background photo are not uploaded to a server. The photo is opened through a temporary link that exists only in your browser tab, and the downloaded files go straight to your device.
