About Receipt Maker

Enter the transaction details and line items. Preview the receipt, then download it as a PDF.
Include a receipt number and date on every receipt you generate — it's a small habit that makes reconciling records against bank statements much easier later.

- What details should every receipt include?
- Include a receipt number and date on every receipt you generate — it's a small habit that makes reconciling records against bank statements much easier later.
- Why is the Generate button greyed out?
- A business name is needed, plus at least one complete item, and no half-filled rows. A row missing its description, quantity or price is outlined in amber with a message below the list. Complete the row or remove it to continue.
- Is the full card number printed on the receipt?
- Never. For Credit Card or Debit Card the box accepts digits only and stops at four. The PDF prints them in the form **** **** **** followed by those four digits, so the real number never appears.
- How does tax appear on the receipt?
- When the Tax percentage is above zero, the PDF lists a Subtotal, then a line with your tax label and percentage, then TOTAL. When it is zero, only TOTAL is shown. You must type the rate that applies where you trade.
- Does the on-screen preview match the PDF exactly?
- Not entirely. The preview is a simple mock-up showing each item with quantity and price and the TOTAL, but it leaves out the subtotal and tax lines. The PDF is the authoritative version, so check the downloaded file.
- What does the signature option add?
- It places a Received by line and a Date line beneath the Thank you message. If the page is too full for them to fit below, they are placed on a second page of the same file.
How to use Receipt Maker
Enter the Business Name, the only required text field, and optionally a Customer Name. Receipt # starts at R-001 and Date defaults to today. Choose a Payment Method from Cash, Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, Bank Transfer, Check or Other. Card methods reveal a box for the last four digits, UPI asks for a transaction reference and Bank Transfer asks for a transfer date.
Under Items, give each row a Description, Qty and Price. Any row you start must have all three, or it is highlighted in amber. Pick a Currency, and enter a Tax (%) and Tax label if tax applies. Press Preview to see an on-screen mock-up, tick the Received by option if you want a signature line, then press Generate & Download Receipt (PDF), which produces a narrow, receipt-shaped page.
When to use it
It suits a market stall, a tutor, a home baker or a landlord who needs to hand over written proof that money was received. It works for cash sales, for UPI or card payments where you want a record of the last four digits, and for rent or deposit acknowledgements where a Received by line is useful.
When not to use it
Do not treat it as a tax invoice. A receipt confirms payment but carries no client address, due date or tax ID, so use the Invoice Generator when the buyer needs those details. It also cannot replace a point-of-sale system that tracks stock and daily takings, and it should never record a payment that did not happen.
Tips for best results
Keep descriptions short, because the PDF prints only the first 28 characters of each item name, so put the key words first. Type a unique receipt number each time, since the number is also the file name and ties the paper copy to your records. With a card payment, enter only the last four digits; a full number is never needed on a receipt.
Limitations
The receipt is a single narrow page, 300 by 500 points, and rows are added downward without breaking onto a new page, so a long list of items can run off the bottom. Only one tax rate applies and there is no discount field. Item names are cut at 28 characters. You must enter the correct tax rate yourself. The result is general information and not tax or accounting advice.
Privacy
The receipt PDF is built in your browser from the fields you fill in. Names, amounts, card digits and payment references stay on your device and are not uploaded. Fonts for non-English characters may be downloaded from this site as plain files. A usage count naming the tool is the only thing reported, and only when you generate.
