About OG / Twitter Card Preview
Shows how a shared link will actually look on social platforms like X, Facebook, or LinkedIn, by previewing the Open Graph card built from the title, description, and image you provide. Download either card as a JPG, or both together as a PDF.
Fill in the title, description, and page URL, and either paste an image URL or drag and drop an image directly — the preview updates live for both the Facebook/LinkedIn-style card and the X (Twitter) card. Download either preview as a JPG image, or both as a single PDF.
Check this before sharing an important link publicly — it's a quick way to catch a missing preview image or an outdated title before it's visible to everyone who sees the post. "Check a live page" reads a public page's current tags for you (the page itself isn't stored), or you can type the values in to preview a page that isn't published yet. Pages behind a login, or that block automated visitors, can't be read. If you pasted an image URL rather than dragging in a file, downloading the preview can occasionally fail — most image hosts don't allow their images to be exported this way from another site. Drag-dropping the image file directly avoids that limitation entirely.
Watch: OG / Twitter Card Preview in Action
- Does this check my page's actual live meta tags automatically?
- No — this previews metadata you enter here manually. If you're checking a page that's already live, pull its current title, description, and image from its own meta tags first, then enter them here to preview.
- Why did downloading my preview fail?
- If you pasted an image URL rather than dragging in a file, downloading can occasionally fail, since most image hosts don't allow their images to be exported this way from another site. Drag-dropping the image file directly avoids that limitation entirely.
- Does the tool fetch my URL or only preview what I type?
- Both. Typing in the fields only previews your values. The Read tags button in Check a live page sends the address to this site's server, which requests the page, reads its tags and sends them back to fill the fields. The page itself is not stored.
- Which tags does Read tags look at?
- For the title it uses og:title, then twitter:title, then the page title tag. For the description it uses og:description, twitter:description, then the plain description tag. For the image it uses og:image, og:image:url or twitter:image. Relative image addresses are turned into full ones.
- Why did Read tags fail on my page?
- Common causes are a page behind a login, a private or local address, a port other than 80 or 443, a site that blocks automated visitors, a page that answers with an error, a file that is not HTML, too many redirects, or more than twenty lookups in a minute.
- Why does downloading the preview sometimes fail with an image URL?
- To turn the card into a picture, the browser must read the image pixels, and many image hosts do not allow that from another website. Dropping the image file onto the drop zone avoids the restriction because the file is already on your device.
- What is in the PDF?
- Two pages, each sized to its card plus a header line reading OG / Social Preview, FreeDailyPro. The first page holds the Facebook and LinkedIn style card and the second holds the X card. Each card is embedded as a JPG image, not as live text.
How to use OG / Twitter Card Preview
Start in one of two ways. Under Check a live page, enter a public address and press Read tags; the fields below fill with that page's title, description, image and URL, and a short list notes anything missing or too long. Or skip that step and type your own values into Title, Description, Image and Page URL. For the image, paste an image address or drop a file onto the drop zone.
The Preview column redraws as you type, showing a Facebook and LinkedIn style card and an X card side by side in one column. Use Download as JPG under either card to save that card as a picture, or Download Both as PDF for a two-page file with one card per page.
When to use it
Reach for it before announcing a launch, newsletter or blog post, when you want to see the headline and picture as a card first. It also suits a page that is not published yet, since you can type the values by hand. And it helps when a shared link shows the wrong picture and you want to read which tags the live page currently declares.
When not to use it
It draws its own approximation of the cards, so it cannot show exactly how a given network will crop or shorten your link today. Networks also keep old versions cached, and only their own debugging pages can refresh that. Use the Facebook sharing debugger or the LinkedIn post inspector when you need to force a re-scrape or see the platform's real rendering.
Tips for best results
Run Read tags first, then edit the filled fields to test a better title or a shorter description before touching your site. The notes list flags titles over 70 characters, descriptions over 200, an http:// image address and a missing twitter:card tag. Dropping an image file works for artwork that is not online yet, and it avoids the export failures that happen when an image host blocks use from other sites.
Limitations
Read tags downloads only the first 512 KB of a page, waits six seconds, follows at most four redirects and accepts only ports 80 and 443 on public websites. Pages behind a login, local or private addresses and non-HTML files are refused, and a site that blocks automated visitors returns an error. Lookups are also rate limited to twenty per minute. Both cards are approximations built from your values.
Privacy
Typing values and dropping an image stays in your browser; a dropped file is read locally and never uploaded. Read tags is different: the address you enter is sent to this site's server, which requests that page for you and returns its tags without saving the page. A pasted image address is loaded by your browser straight from its host. JPG and PDF files are made on your device.
