- What does the Start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" switch change?
- With it on, Paragraphs mode starts the first paragraph with the classic sentence, Sentences mode makes the first sentence that line, and Words mode begins with its first eight words. With it off, everything is random.
- How much text can I generate at once?
- Up to 1000 paragraphs, sentences or words per press. A larger number is reduced to 1000, and zero or an invalid entry becomes 1, with a short notice under the controls explaining the change.
- How long are the generated paragraphs and sentences?
- A paragraph contains between 3 and 7 sentences, and a sentence has between 4 and 12 words, sometimes with a comma. Each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a period.
- Is this the original Latin passage?
- No. The words come from the traditional filler vocabulary, but they are picked at random, so the sentences have no meaning. Only the optional opening line is the familiar fixed sentence.
- What does Wrap in <p> tags produce?
- Each paragraph is enclosed in opening and closing paragraph tags and placed on its own line. The option appears only for Paragraphs, and the word and character counts above the output ignore the tags.
How to use Lorem Ipsum Generator
Type a number into Count (1 to 1000), choose Paragraphs, Sentences or Words in Type, and press Generate. Two switches sit below. The switch labeled Start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." makes the first sentence, or the first eight words, the traditional opening instead of random text. Wrap in <p> tags appears only for paragraphs and puts each paragraph on its own line inside paragraph tags, ready to paste into HTML.
The text appears in a panel with a live word and character count above it and a Copy button in the corner. Press Generate again for a fresh variation; every press builds new text from the built-in word list.
When to use it
Reach for it when a layout needs body text before the real copy exists: testing line length in a blog template, checking how a card grid wraps, filling a prototype, seeding a database with dummy descriptions, or showing a client a typographic sample. Words mode suits headings and button labels of a known length.
When not to use it
Placeholder text can hide real problems. It tells you nothing about accessibility or localization, because accents, long compound words, right-to-left scripts and real headings behave differently. Never leave it in anything published. If you need dummy names, addresses or numbers rather than prose, a dedicated fake-data generator fits better.
Tips for best results
Match Count to the length you expect, not a round number: if product blurbs run about 40 words, generate Words with 40. Generated paragraphs hold 3 to 7 sentences of 4 to 12 words, so they are more even than real writing; paste a few extra long and extra short items to stress the layout. Switch off the traditional opening when you paste several batches, so the same first sentence is not repeated.
Limitations
The vocabulary is a fixed list of 63 Latin-style words, so output repeats words often and is not real Latin prose. Count is limited to 1000 and an out-of-range number is corrected with a notice. Each press gives different text, so an identical result cannot be regenerated, and the paragraph-tag switch is available only in Paragraphs mode.
Privacy
The text is assembled in your browser from a short built-in word list using random numbers generated on your device. Nothing you type except the count is involved, and nothing leaves the page apart from an anonymous usage tick when you press Generate. The Copy button writes to your clipboard locally.
