Invoicing a Client and Getting Paid

Send the invoice, issue a receipt once they've paid, and keep the income on your books.

The invoice comes first because it's the request for payment -- everything after it assumes payment has actually happened. A receipt only makes sense once money has actually changed hands, not before, which is why it's a genuinely separate second step rather than something to send alongside the invoice. Logging the income against expenses is the bookkeeping step that's easy to skip in the moment but adds up to a real problem at tax time if it isn't done as you go.

Each step opens as its own tool -- download from one, upload into the next, same as any free tool on the site.
