Building a Character for a Game or Animation

Design the character, then prep it in the format an engine actually needs.

Designing the character itself comes first as the creative step. Arranging it into a real sprite sheet is a distinct, technical second step -- most game engines and animation tools don't work directly with a single character image, they need frames laid out in a specific sprite sheet format to actually animate movement, which is a different skill from designing the character's look.

Each step opens as its own tool -- download from one, upload into the next, same as any free tool on the site.
