Use Final Grade Calculator to learn what score you need on the final from current grade and exam weight.
Syllabus week said the final is 30% of the course, your current average is 78%, and you need to know whether an A is still possible before you plan the last two study weekends. Final Grade Calculator works out the score you need on the final from your current grade and how much the final counts, shows a table for common letter targets, and marks grades already secured even with a zero on the final.
This guide covers one job only: convert points to percentages, enter weight and target, and read the result without wishful arithmetic. Track term GPA with GPA Calculator, size essays with Word Counter, and format sources with Citation Generator. Category: college tools.
Enter current grade as a percentage, not a letter. If the instructor gave points, divide by total available and multiply by 100. Final weight is the percent the exam counts (30 means 30%). The tool solves for the final score that produces your target course grade. If the needed score is above 100%, that target cannot be reached with the final alone—ask about extra credit or re-sits, or aim one grade lower. “Secured” means your current grade is high enough that even 0 on the final still yields that letter. Grade cut-offs differ by school; always check the syllabus for the exact percentage an A or B needs.
Alex has 82% going into a biology final worth 35% of the course. Target: 90% for an A. The calculator returns the final score required; the table also shows what is needed for B and C. A second row shows that a mid-B is already secured even with a weak final. Alex plans study hours against the A threshold instead of guessing. Nothing is uploaded; the calculation runs in the browser.
The tool is general information for planning study time, not academic advice from your registrar. It does not know curved grading, plus/minus quirks or extra-credit policies unless you fold those into the percentage you enter. Among FreeDailyPro’s 300+ professional tools, premium applications and workflow products it sits with other college helpers. Nothing you enter leaves your device. Trial usage rules apply where the site meters usage (10 trial usages, then day pass or monthly options when relevant).
Multiple finals or lab practicals: compute a combined remaining weight or run the tool once per remaining assessment with adjusted current grade. Pass/fail courses: set the target to the pass threshold from the syllabus. Incomplete grades: wait until the current percentage is final before trusting “Secured” labels.
If you need 88% on the final, break the exam outline into topics and assign hours; if you need 102%, switch the target to the next realistic grade and protect sleep. Pair the number with a written outline rather than rereading the whole textbook the night before.
Once you know you need, say, 86% on the final, reverse-plan the days you still have. List major topics from the syllabus, star the ones that historically carry the most points, and assign blocks of time that fit around work or labs. Recalculate after any makeup grade posts, because a two-point rise in the current average can drop the required final score by more than two points when the final is heavily weighted.
If the tool says a grade is Secured, do not coast into a zero—many curves and participation policies still expect a serious attempt. Use the spare mental room to strengthen weaker courses instead of gambling the secured grade away.
If your course uses labs 20%, midterms 30%, final 50%, compute the current percentage from all completed work before you enter it. Some students accidentally enter only the midterm average and then panic at an impossible final target. When the syllabus offers optional final replacement rules, run the calculator twice: once with the rule, once without, and keep the syllabus PDF beside your plan.
If the required score exceeds 100%, bring the calculator result to office hours as a planning question, not a demand. Instructors can clarify extra credit, curves or exam formats more usefully when you show the arithmetic.
A clear target score beats vague panic the week before finals. Open Final Grade Calculator, enter current grade and weight, and plan from the real number.
